Summer planting for birds

Summer Planting for Birds

If you enjoy feeding birds, you enjoy being outside.  Try planting flowers that both you and your birds will enjoy. There are many to choose from, but they are in two types: nectar rich flowers that hummingbirds and butterflies will love like Bee Balm or Trumpet Vine, and those flowers that make seeds for birds that enjoy seeds, such as Liatris or Black-eyed Susan. Some flowers, like Coreopsis do both. When you look for flowers that will bloom and be pretty to look at all season, try to remember your flying friends can benefit from your choices as well. Enjoy!
